History
The Center for Turkic Studies was founded originally by the Decree No.633 of the 10th November 2000 of the President of the National University of Mongolia in order to develop Turkish studies in Mongolia; to concentrate the efforts of scholars and lecturers conducting research on literary monuments and artifacts of ancient Turkish nations in the territory of Mongolia and as well as the relationship between Mongolian and Turkish languages; to improve and deepen research and training in this field. Since 2014 it has been an integral part of the Department of Asian Studies, School of Arts and Sciences and has carried out study and research.
Present actions
Turkic Studies as a part of Asian Studies Department at the National University of Mongolia was established in 2000 and has been prepared national specialists with high qualifications in Turkic Studies since 2002. It currently offers bachelor/master/doctoral degree programs in Turkish Language, Turkic Area Studies and Translation Studies.
The Turkish Studies is the one of the only in Mongolia that offers a complete program of the Modern Turkish language and history, culture, languages of Turkic ethnicities.
Academic staff
The teaching staff consists of PhD and MA degrees holders of various academic ranks: 1 professor, 3 full-time lecturers, 1 part-time lecturer.
